UNEDITED: Zoe De Caluwé is a multidisciplinary artist and writer born in Germany, now based in Oxfordshire. Zoe started her sculpture practice by working with ceramics, teaching herself how to glaze and fire her work. Now, she has branched out into various other materials, she works with wood, ceramics, plaster, bread and often utilises glue as a medium. Playing with the boundaries of material value has given her a sense of freedom. Her work treads the line between natural forms and the artificially constructed. She aims for her work to feel soothing, yet, uneasy. She considers the nature of the processes she utilises, letting herself be guided by the properties of the materials.
